Accessibility of Pottermore

Hi everybody,

I was all set to give in to my friend's insistance that I join Pottermore, but I ran into a problem. A page on the site froze my computer, and when I went back to the previous page, I was prompted to sign in again but then wasn't able to. I'd heard about accessibility issues on Pottermore from my friend before I signed up but wanted to check it out for myself. Is it truly inaccessible with JAWS, or is there perhaps something I can do to improve the accessibility? I hope so. Now that I've finally gotten started with it, I'm really interested in what the site has to offer.

Thanks,
Becky

That's happened to me too on the computer using NVDA. It actually works a lot better using voiceover. I think some of it is flash though so wont work with that. I've only gone through Sorcerer's Stone so far.

Looks like it's true then. That's a shame. I would really like to advance in the site, but it would be impractical for me to try to find a pair of eyeballs every time I want to access an inaccessible feature. Ah well.

I got up to the part where i select a wand for my character. If I remember correctly, you have to answer a series of questions by selecting responses from a series of combo boxes, and I couldn't even do that with JAWS. I have yet to try this with NVDA or VoiceOver; I'll see what happens. Hopefully the site doesn't freeze. Better yet, since I have not logged in in well over a year, I hope my account is still active.
